Turkey fires shells into Syria

ANKARA, Jan 18 (KUNA) -- Turkish Army artillerymen retaliated for rocketing from Syrian territories firing volleys of 54 shells in direction of sources of fire, said Suleyman Tapsiz, Governor of the southern town Kilis, at a news conference on Monday.
Tapsiz said a rocket unleashed from the Syrian side of the border crashed into a location where schools are situated, killing a woman worker, wounding a female student and damaging two schools in Kilis.
The rocket was fired from a Syrian region under control of the so-called Islamic State (IS), located 20 kms inland, he said. (end) rs.rk
