MANAMA, Jan 14 (KUNA) -- Bahraini Defense Force Commander-in-Chief, Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, said Thursday "the unity and solidarity of the GCC States toward external threats contributed to consolidation of security and stability" in the Gulf region.
Sheikh Khalifa during a meeting with Dean of Diplomatic Corps in Bahrain, the Kuwaiti Ambassador Sheikh Azzam Mubarak Al Sabah, praised the close brotherly relations between Kuwait and Bahrain under the wise leaderships of the two countries.
For his part, Sheikh Azzam Al-Sabah stressed on the importance of the GCC countries' unity in face of the developments in the region. He also praised the deeply-rooted Kuwaiti-Bahraini relations.
Kuwait and Bahrain have maintained warm relations since old times. They are both members in the GCC which includes Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar and Oman. The bloc was established in the early 80s to attain closer links at various levels and coordinate against external threats. (end) mga.ss
