Coalition conducts 1 airstrike in Syria, 19 strikes in Iraq against IS

WASHINGTON, Jan 5 (KUNA) -- Coalition military forces continued to attack the so-called Islamic State (IS), conducting one airstrike in Syria and 19 strikes in Iraq, the Combined Joint Task Force announced on Tuesday.
In Syria near Ayn Isa, one strike destroyed three IS fighting positions, the announcement said.
In Iraq near Ramadi, two strikes denied IS access to terrain, it said.
Near Haditha, two strikes struck two separate IS tactical units and destroyed an IS mortar position, three IS fighting positions, four IS vehicles, two IS heavy machine guns and wounded two IS fighters, the statement said.
Near Kisik, four strikes struck an IS tactical unit and destroyed an IS fighting position, six IS bunkers, two IS-used culverts, an IS assembly area, an IS weapons cache and suppressed an IS mortar position, it said.
Near Mosul, six strikes struck an IS tactical unit and destroyed 10 IS fighting positions, two IS mortar positions, five IS assembly areas, an IS heavy machine gun and suppressed three separate IS mortar positions, it said.
Near Sinjar, three strikes struck an IS tactical unit and destroyed 11 IS assembly areas, three IS weapon caches, an IS command-and-control node, nine IS fighting positions and two IS mortar positions, the statement said.
Near Sultan Abdallah, two strikes struck two separate IS tactical units and destroyed two IS fighting positions, it said. (end) rm.nfm
