Coalition conducts 1 airstrike in Syria, 25 strikes in Iraq against IS

WASHINGTON, Jan 4 (KUNA) -- Coalition military forces continued to attack the so-called Islamic State (IS), conducting one airstrike in Syria and 25 strikes in Iraq, the Combined Joint Task Force announced on Monday. In Syria near Ayn Isa, one strike destroyed five IS buildings, the announcement said.
In Iraq near Al Baghdadi, two strikes struck an IS tactical unit and destroyed an IS machine gun, an IS fighting position, five IS weapons caches, an IS vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) and five IS rocket rails, the statement said. The strikes also suppressed two IS mortar positions and an IS VBIED, cratered an IS-used road, wounded three IS fighters and denied IS access to terrain, it said.
Near Fallujah, one strike destroyed an IS fighting position and an IS bunker, it said.
Near Haditha, one strike struck an IS tactical unit and destroyed an IS VBIED, four IS vehicles and an IS heavy machine gun, the statement said. Near Kisik, three strikes struck three separate IS tactical units and destroyed two IS fighting positions, it said. Near Mosul, 12 strikes struck five separate IS tactical units and destroyed eight IS fighting positions, an IS excavator, four IS weapons caches, IS engineering equipment, three IS heavy machine guns, 12 IS assembly areas and denied IS access to terrain, it said. Near Qayyarah, one strike struck an IS-used bridge, the statement said.
Near Ramadi, two strikes struck an IS tactical unit and destroyed five IS fighting positions and four buildings and denied IS access to terrain, it said.
Near Sinjar, two strikes destroyed two IS fighting positions and suppressed two IS machine gun positions, it said.
Near Tal Afar, one strike destroyed 10 IS bunkers, it said. (end) rm.nfm
