Coalition conducts 7 airstrikes in Syria, 17 in Iraq against IS

WASHINGTON, Dec 31 (KUNA) -- Coalition military forces continued to attack the so-called Islamic State (IS), conducting seven airstrikes in Syria and 17 in Iraq, the Combined Joint Task Force announced on Thursday. In Syria near Ayn Isa, two strikes destroyed an IS fighting position and an IS building, the announcement said.
Near Mar'a, four strikes struck four separate IS tactical units and destroyed an IS vehicle, an IS fighting position and wounded four IS fighters, it said.
Near Manbij, one strike struck an IS tactical unit, it said.
In Iraq, near Kisik, one strike destroyed an IS bunker, the statement said.
Near Mosul, nine strikes struck an IS tactical unit, two IS staging locations, three IS headquarters and destroyed 21 IS fighting positions, it said. Near Ramadi, five strikes struck two separate IS tactical units and destroyed an IS staging area, 10 IS fighting positions, seven IS heavy machine guns, an IS sniper position, an IS rocket-propelled grenade position and denied IS access to terrain, the statement said.
Near Sinjar, two strikes struck an IS tactical unit and destroyed an IS vehicle and an IS fighting position and suppressed an IS mortar position and a light machine gun position, it said.
