Syria opens fire at Lebanese military helicopter

BEIRUT, Dec 31 (KUNA) -- Syrian anti-aircraft opened fire on Thursday at a Lebanese military helicopter in a first incident in its kind since the Syrian crisis broke out.
The helicopter was hit by a fire of the Syrian side, yet the two pilots managed to return back to the Qlaiaat air base, National News Agency (NNA) said, adding it was flying over the region of Sahel Akkar.
Investigations are currently undertaken to unveil the causes of the incident, it noted.
Meanwhile, Lebanese public security detained a man charged with forming a cell to attract people to join war in Syria.
Security sources said in a statement on Thursday the man admitted that he is belonging to Al-Nusra Front and entered Syria illegally via Turkey.
He was assigned to form a cell in Lebanon to recruit people to join fight in Syria, the statement added. (end) mah.ayb.nsa.hm
