Russia calls on Turkey to find political solution for Kurds

MOSCOW, Dec 30 (KUNA) -- Russia called on Turkey to find a political solution to its wary Kurdish population and particularly PKK militants, which espouses violence in the pursuit of potential independence.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday that "violence practices" against the Kurdish population should be stopped and "political settlement" should resume.
Turkish military operation against the Kurds resulted in much causality, including women and children, the statement said. The unrest also led to imposing a curfew law on journalists, politicians and observers.
Russia also warned against the creation of a humanitarian crisis due to shortage of food and medical supplies as well as the escape of thousands of people due to military clashes between the Turkish army and PKK rebels. (end) as.nfm
