ISLAMABAD, Dec 21 (KUNA) -- At least three suspected militants including a local commander were killed and several others injured in a US-led drone strike in Afghanistanآ’s eastern Nangarhar province, said officials on Monday.
A US Army official in Afghan capital Kabul, Colonel Michael Lawhorn confirming the attack said, "US forces conducted a strike in Bati Kot District, Nangarhar Province, December 19 against individuals threatening the force."
According to local media, the strike targeted a meeting by Taliban rebels destroying the hideout completely.
The drone strike came at a time when Taliban rebels have paced up their attacks across Afghanistan capturing several districts in the country. Earlier last month, a US drone strike killed a senior commander of a banned Pakistani outfit in Afghanistan bordering North Waziristan tribal belt of Pakistan. (end)
