Turkish security authorities arrest 34 wanted persons in Izmir

ISTANBUL, Dec 18 (KUNA) -- Turkish security authorities arrested on Friday in the city Izmir 34 out of 58 people sentenced to detention orders, including lawyers, academics and businessmen in the framework of a security operation targeting (parallel entity), accused by the government of penetrating into the joints of the state in an attempt to overthrow it.
Ihlas news agency said that the Turkish anti-terrorism teams in the Security Directorate of Izmir raided the homes of wanted persons this morning simultaneously within the investigations conducted by the public prosecutor.
The agency noted that the security forces managed to arrest 34 people, while the security operation is still continuing to arrest the remaining 24 others.
The Turkish authorities describe Fethullah Gulen, who is currently residing in the United States since 1998 as a (parallel entity) who is accused of penetrating into the police and judiciary and being behind the arrests, which took place in Turkey on December 25, 2013 under the pretext of the fight against corruption.(end) ta.tg
