US embassy in Ankara cuts services over security threats

ANKARA, Dec 14 (KUNA) -- The US Embassy in Turkey said Monday that it will limit consular services due to an unspecified security threat.
In a press statement, the embassy in Ankara said public services, including visa appointments, will be cancelled on Monday and Tuesday and will be rescheduled for a later time.
It has urged US citizens to avoid the embassy building on those dates.
"Please note the embassy's operating status may be subject to change as the security situation evolves," the statement said.
Last week, the US consulate in Istanbul was placed on alert following intelligence about plans by Islamic State militants for a possible attack. (end) rs.ibi
