French fighter jets destroy ISIL positions in Iraq - Defense Min.

PARIS, Dec 1 (KUNA) -- French fighter jets launched successful airstrikes against positions of so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Levant (ISIL) in the Iraqi Anbar district, the Defense Ministry said Tuesday.
Warplanes from the French Air Force joined the US-led coalition in attacking ISIL positions in Al-Qa'em area near the Iraq-Syria borders, the ministry added in a statement.
Depots containing ammunition and explosive belts were destroyed in Al-Qa'em, Anbar, said the ministry, and noted that the mission lasted for about an hour and succeeded in destroying the entire position.
French President Francois Hollande had pledged that Paris would intensify airstrikes against ISIL in Syria and Iraq following the November 13 attacks in Paris that killed 130 people and wounded over 350 others, which were claimed by the terror group. (end) amm.bs
