KUWAIT, Nov 30 (KUNA) -- Under auspices of Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and Minister of State for Planning and Development Affairs Hind Al-Sabeeh, Kuwait Public Relations Association (KPRA) organized a ceremony to honor a number of non-profit organizations for their contributions to the society.
The ceremony gathered a number of diplomats and public figures on Sunday night.
In his speech to the gathering, Representative of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Ali Suleiman Al-Romi non-profit institutions have a great civilizing influence on their society and this influence gauges the level of progress of nations.
"KPRA took the initiative in honoring these institutions in order to highlight the role of Kuwait in promoting civilization in various fields regionally and internationally, and encourage these institutions to do more in serving the community," Al-Romi said.
He noted that the KPRA board of directors set standards for awarding its prize for excellence in social giving institutions according to the objectives and specialization of each institution.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor to back the KPRA role in social development and its efforts to put into play the role of youth volunteers while taking stock of the UN honoring of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah as Humanitarian Leader and Kuwait as Humanitarian Center.
On his part, KPRA Treasurer Mohammad Al-Mosawi said the Association plays a growing role in the social and cultural development as well as human rights protection inside and outside Kuwait.
"KPRA offers the necessary consultancy and support to the non-profit orgs in order to make them better able to make the society free of violence amid the current regional conditions," he pointed out.
Al-Mosawi thanked Minister Al-Sabeeh for her support to the Association and the efforts to help non-profit orgs network and share experience with each other.
The award winners are Kuwait Red Crescent Society, the national society for protection of children, Kuwait Society for the Welfare of Disabled Persons, the alumni association, Kuwait Blind Association, the Social Association, Kuwaiti Association for Learning Differences, the Kuwaiti Society for Smoking and Cancer Prevention, Kuwaiti Writers Association, and the National Association of Domestic Security (RAWASI).
