DOHA, Oct 6 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah said here Tuesday that tourism industry in the GCC countries will have a bright future thanks to the GCC leaders' interest in this sector.
The minister made the statement to KUNA following his arrival in the Qatari capital to participate in the second meeting of GCC tourism ministers and officials due in Doha on Wednesday.
He expressed his great trust in the success of the meeting which comes after the first one hosted by Kuwait last year, lauding efforts exerted by the GCC Secretariat to follow up the recommendations of the meeting.
He also commended efforts of undersecretaries of GCC tourism ministries over the last period that saw a number of workshops in implementation of the first meeting's recommendations.
The meeting is expected to discuss means of promoting tourism among GCC countries through a long-term strategy and the involvement of the private sector in tourism.
On arrival, Sheikh Salman Sabah was welcomed by Kuwaiti Ambassador to Qatar Meteb Saleh Al-Mutotah and a number of embassy's staff.
The minister is accompanied by a delegation including a number of senior officials. (end) nnd.hm
