KUWAIT, Sept 12 (KUNA) -- The Ministry of Health (MoH) in collaboration with Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Kuwait Airways, will initiate a campaign Sunday aimed at generating health awareness among Hajj pilgrims.
Head of the media office of the Ministry of Health Dr. Ghalia Al-Mutairi in a statement to KUNA, said that that there will be a designated pavilion for the campaign at Kuwait International Airport. There, staff will offer pilgrims guidance as well as answer any questions they may have.
Informative films will be screened at the airport and leaflets will be given on board flights headed to the hallowed grounds of Makkah, Al-Mutairi said.
The campaign is a strategic attempt to maintain the safety of Kuwaiti pilgrims as well as meet demands of international health organizations on the importance of generating awareness among pilgrims on ways to avoid contagious diseases, Al-Mutairi added.
The campaign will also ensure that pilgrims meet health guidelines issued by international health organizations in light of the imminent start of the Hajj season.
Al-Mutairi also noted the importance of adequate sleep in aiding pilgrims in completing the often grueling Hajj, or pilgrimage.
Hajj, an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Makkah, is a mandatory religious duty for Muslims that must, if capable, be carried out at least once in their lifetime. (end) abd.nam
