Egyptians, world await opening of news Suez Canal

CAIRO, Aug 4 (KUNA) -- As preparations for the opening of the new Suez Canal continues, Egyptians and people around the globe are awaiting the historical opening of the waterway next Thursday.
According to the Egyptian leadership, the opening of the new canal will be Egypt's present to the world.
The waterway will be an important step to revitalize global maritime businesses as well as navigation.
The opening of the new canal will be supervised by the Egyptian armed forces as well as the police who vowed to provide protection during the opening ceremony and further contribute the security of the location in the future.
Other state institutions also provided statements, expressing readiness to partake in the opening of the new Suez Canal.
On his part, chair of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Admiral Mohab Mameesh said that that the opening of the canal will provide a message to the world that Egypt was "safe and sound" and that his country was able to contribute to the international community.
The Egyptian national television will be broadcasting the opening of the new Suez Canal, a project initiated by President Abdelfatah Al-Sisi on August 5th, 2014 as a supplement waterway that will allow a two-way maritime navigation for ships. (end) ms.gta
