ISLAMABAD, Aug 2 (KUNA) -- At least four rebels including a local Taliban leader was killed in a United States led drone strike in Afghanistan's central Logar province, said officials on Sunday.
Barkai Barak district police chief, Mohammad Rahim Amin in a statement said that Maulvi Habib-u-Rahman, a senior Taliban commander, and his three associates were killed in an unmanned drone attack in Chalozai area of Barkai Barak district. He alleged that the slain commander was involved in anti-state activities in the area for the last few years.
Earlier on July 30, at least 20 rebels were killed in two separate foreign troops drone strikes in Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province. The drone strikes by foreign troops have increased recently following the launch of annual warm weather offensive by Taliban rebels across Afghanistan. (end) sbk.ibi
