(WIth KUWAIT-ITALY-MINISTER) ROME, July 23 (KUNA) -- Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah arrived HERE late Thursday to represent His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah at the opening of an exhibition on "Art in the Islamic Culture".
The event will be inaugurated Friday in the presence of Italy's President Sergio Mattarella in Scuderie Quirinale museum in Rome.
In a statement to KUNA, Sheikh Salman expressed his joy for representing His Highness the Prime Minister in this international event which aims to enhance cultural exchange between Kuwait and Italy and support the effective participation of Kuwait in the Expo Milano 2015.
The exhibition seeks to build bridges for cultural and human communications and shows an image to the external world that Kuwait is a big state thanks to its people, heritage and culture, the minister said. Kuwait has been paying interest to promote culture in many world venues, Sheikh Salman, who is also chairman of National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, noted earlier today in another statement to KUNA.
He said that the event would provide a closer look to both Arab and Islamic cultures to millions of tourists and visitors who flock to Italy, particularly Rome, during this time of year for recreation and closer look at the nation's historic treasures On arrival, Sheikh Salman and his accompanying delegation were received by Kuwaiti Ambassador to Italy Sheikh Ali Khaled Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and a number of senior officials. The event will display the Sabah Collection; a collection of more than 20,000 objects representing different chronological and geographical points from the Islamic world. The Scuderie del Quirinale will only display a selected 363 objects. (end) mn.hm
