Drone strike kills 4 insurgents in E. Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, July 8 (KUNA) -- At least four insurgents were killed and two others wounded in the United States-led drone strike in Afghanistanآ’s eastern Nangarhar province, said officials on Wednesday.
The governorآ’s spokesman, Ahmad Zia Abdulzai in a statement said that the unmanned aircraft fired a missile, which left four militants dead, and two others wounded in Bati Kot district. The National Directorate of Security (NDS) coordinated and provided clue for the drone attack, he added.
Provincial police spokesman, Lt. Col. Hazrat Hussain Mashraqiwal confirming the drone strike claimed that the drone strike left a dread Taliban commander Qari Rafiq dead in Haska Mina district.
Several Taliban rebels have been killed in around five drone strikes during the last few days in Nangarhar. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid rejected that any Taliban fighter had been killed in the drone attack.
The drone strike came on the day when Pakistan hosted a meeting between the Afghan government and Tehreek-e-Taliban Afghanistan representatives in eastern Murree city facilitating the reconciliation process. (end) sbk.mt
