KSHR launches youth leaders' project for peace

KUWAIT, July 4 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait Society for Human Rights (KSHR), in collaboration with the U.S.-Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), launched the project of youth leaders for peace to create a working environment so as to spread the culture of peace inside the society.
The project's supervisor Mohammad Al-Otaibi said in a press statement Saturday that the scheme materializes the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah that call for interesting in youth.
On his part, Ahmad Al-Humaidi, the project's director, said that the recent events that Kuwait witnessed urge the society to support efforts by the government aiming to face extremism and terrorism, and encourage youth to participate in achieving the societal peace.
The projects will run until 12 months and aims to build capabilities and skills of Kuwait's youth, he said, adding it also includes different activities, training courses and campaigns to raise youth's awareness about facing violence and extremism.
He noted that the MEPI has a unique program in its kind that was designed particularly for building direct relations with peoples of Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. (end) mrf.abd.hm
