Kuwait's Al-Awwad urges better health services for women in poor socieites

KUWAIT, July 4 (KUNA) -- Head of the international committee for women engineer Bashayer Al-Awwad of Kuwait has called for improving health services for women in poor communities Al-Awwad made the call in her speech at the Fourth International Forum of NGOs, held in Paris in partnership with UNESCO under "The Role of Women in Fighting Poverty." She told KUNA by phone on Saturday that in her speech, she offered a plan for a solution to the problems of hunger and poverty women are suffering from through improving their living and health conditions.
Delegates from 36 counties and 108 NGOs took part in the Paris Forum 29 June-1 July) which focused on protecting women and developing solutions for better living conditions.
Al-Awwad emphasized the importance of good education to enable women enhance their intellectual abilities and face their backwardness and poverty problems, especially in African remote communities.
In addition, she called for curbing early marriage of girls in African countries, where several young wives and mothers strive for a dignified life with their kids after they are abandoned by husbands. (end) ha.abd.msa
