AMMAN, July 4 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti volunteers on Saturday distributed food parcels among 570 Syrian families in the Jordanian capital as part of a humanitarian campaign by the Kuwaiti Higher Committee for Syrian Refugees Relief.
Today's food aid was offered to Syrian families in Hasban and Al-Wehdat areas of Amman. The three-day campaign, which is part of an urgent relief program, includes 2,280 food parcels worth USD 100,000, head of the Kuwaiti aid delegation Fahd Al-Rashidi told KUNA.
Kuwaitis have been generously providing aid to "Syrian brothers" responding to a call by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to alleviate the sufferings of Syrian refugees.
Al-Rashidi lauded Jordan's efforts, hosting Syrian refugees and offering them all types of possible help.
Meanwhile, the delegation will leave for Beirut later in the day for a similar campaign to help Syrian refugees in the Lebanese capital.
On his part, head of the Kuwaiti Social Reform Society office in Jordan Salah Shehadeh, told KUNA that the Kuwaiti aid has been flowing since the crisis broke out more than four years before. Aid is channeled through coordination with Jordanian charity societies to make sure it reaches the most needy among Syrian refugee families. (end) ab.msa
