KUWAIT, June 12 (KUNA) -- Kuwait SC defeated Al-Sadd SC of Qatar 73-68 Thursday to advance to the final match of the GCC Basketball Champions League.
Kuwait is to play the final match against Al-Ahli SC of Bahrain, which beat its country's counterpart Al-Manama SC 93-86 today.
Al-Sadd players dominated the first quarter of the match by their strong performance and skills, ending it 21-15.
However, Kuwait was able to rebound in the second quarter and lead the score, ending the quarter 36-32.
The third quarter saw strong and competitive performances by both teams, during which Al-Sadd was able to narrow the gap and lead the score on a number of occasions. But, Kuwait had a slight edge over its counterpart to end the quarter 50-53 in its favor.
Both teams displayed a tremendous performance in the fourth quarter with several attempts by Al-Sadd players to tie Kuwait, which succeeded in winning the game at the end to qualify to the final match.
"The players showed well and desire for victory, refusing to waste their efforts and give up the match, which reflected clearly on their strong performance that earned them the win at the end," Ali Al-Ghanim, Vice-Chairman of Kuwait SC, stated to KUNA.
