Two exciting upcoming events at Kuwait Expo pavilion - Director
MILAN, Italy, June 11 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's pavilion at Expo Milano 2015 will be hosting two exciting cultural events in the coming days that will supplement the wing's long agenda at the gigantic global cultural and educational exhibition, its director Mohammad Al-Badah said on Thursday.
The events, held inside and out of the pavilion, will host Kuwaiti traditional craftsmen and two singers along with their bands who will be playing traditional festive Kuwaiti music.
The National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature has arranged the presence of a traditional perfume-mixer, a "Bisht" men's garment tailor and a traditional basket weaver, Al-Badah told KUNA.
"These three things are of utmost importance for two reasons," said Al-Badah. "For one, they are part of our culture, and two, they are part of the many activities we will be hosting at our pavilion over the next six months."
The Ministry of Information has also arranged three nights of traditional music at the entrance of the wing under the beautiful spotlight infused sails of the immaculately-designed pavilion which will begin at 9:00pm (local time), added its director.
As well as being open to visitors of Expo Milano, the event will be televised to viewers in Kuwait on KTV over the three days of the festive Islamic occasion of Eid Al-Fitr which follows the holy month of Ramadan, he said.
Meanwhile, KTV's Director of Productions Mohammad Al-Misri said that the singers will include traditional singers Ahmad Al-Rowaishid and Fatooma both of whom will be presented by well-known KTV presenter Ghada Rezoogi.
A large crew of around .. cameramen and sound producers, headed by Al-Misri, will also be conducting exclusive footage of the pavilion and the other Arab Gulf pavilions at Expo.
These will include an amalgamation of Gulf music at the Qatar pavilion along with interviews with key members of the Gulf state missions across Expo Milano.
Al-Misri went on to thank the efforts of Minister of Information and Minister of Youth Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, Ministry Undersecretary Tareq Al-Mizrim, the Kuwait pavilion Commissioner Faisal Al-Metlaqim and the exhibition's organisers.
He also praised the efforts of the pavilion's Director Mohammad Al-Baddah along with the crew of Kuwaiti Information Ministry staff and volunteers employed at the venue.
For his part, the Kuwait pavilion Deputy Director Bader Nasser Al-Mutairi said that the pavilion has provided all facilitations aimed at easing the task of the participating Kuwaiti bodies at the pavilion.
About his role, Al-Mutairi said he along with the Director Al-Badah are tasked with assisting the visiting teams with all of their logistical and contact needs that aid them in conducting their role.
He mentioned that there is cooperation with the Kuwaiti Consulate in Milan and the Ministry of Information on these efforts.
For instance, he said that "the KTV crew needed sound systems, microphones and mixers. We had provided these things through media firms we had contracted with beforehand."
About the staff employed at the venue, he said that their interaction with many nationalities around the world has enabled them to gather a wealth of experience in dealing with visitors since the launch of the pavilion at the beginning of May.
Al-Mutairi, who expressed his firm belief that Kuwait is amongst the top 10 pavilions out of a total 143 at Expo Milano 2015, said "this is the least we can do for the nation we love - our homeland, Kuwait."
Kuwait's pavilion at the global cultural, educational and scientific exhibition has one of the most striking architecturally immaculate designs at the fair.
Designed by Italian architect Italo Rota the 2,790 square-meter pavilion features a building made up of white material sails atop a bed of desert sand.
Inside it portrays many aspects of the everyday life of people in Kuwait on a social, economic and cultural level.
The Expo exhibition, which started on May 1 and continues until October 31 this year, is held every five years and began in London in 1851. (end)
