GENEVA, June 5 (KUNA) -- Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and Minister of State for Planning and Development Hind Sabeeh Al-Sabeeh has held talks with International Labor Organization (ILO) Director-General Guy Ryder.
The meeting with Ryder addressed steps for providing technical expertise to Kuwait, and the Gulf region so as to cope with the latest developments on labor rights, Al-Sabeeh told KUNA on Friday.
The talks were held on the sidelines of the 104th Session of the International Labor Conference (ILC) in Geneva.
They also discussed mechanisms for qualifying the staff of Kuwait's Public Authority for Manpower. Experts can be brought to Kuwait to provide them with necessary training. They can also take part in training courses, regional and international, she added.
In the meantime, Minister Al-Sabeeh stressed Kuwait's keenness on guaranteeing and maintaining labor rights, referring to the country's cooperation with the ILO.
The ILO member States meet at the annual ILC conference in Geneva in June, and each one is represented by a delegation of two government delegates, an employer delegate, a worker delegate, and their respective advisers.
Every two years the Conference adopts the ILO's biennial work program and budget, which is financed by member States. (end) ta.msa
