Kuwait chairs the 42nd Meeting of OIC Foreign Ministers council

KUWAIT, May 27 (KUNA) -- First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, on Wednesday, received the chairmanship of the 42nd Meeting of Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) from Saudi Arabia, the Chair of the previous session.
This came during the opening session of the 42nd Meeting of Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC held in Kuwait on Wednesday entitled "Joint Vision to Strengthen Tolerance and Reject Terrorism." The opening session gut underway with a speech by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and honoring for His Highness on the occasion of UN's designation of Sheikh Sabah as a "Humanitarian Leader," and Kuwait as a "Humanitarian Center." The ministers will later discuss the meeting agenda, tackling various political, economic, social, cultural, scientific and technological issues besides many other topics.
The two-day ministerial meeting will discuss critical and important developments in the region, mainly the situation in Palestine, Syria, Yemen and Libya.
It will also tackle the deteriorating conditions of the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, while OIC ministerial contact team is expected to hold a meeting on the sidelines of the session, to discuss the latest developments in Myanmar, besides the peace process in Mali and supporting reconstruction in Somalia.
The current session's agenda will also include a special meeting to set the appropriate and vital strategy to encounter terrorism, radicalism, Islamophobia, defamation of religions and situation of Muslim communities in non-member countries. (end) nb.ss
