ISTANBUL, May 23 (KUNA) -- The Turkish city of Ordu, overlooking the Black Sea, has an eye-catching beauty, especially in spring time, with its nice weather and blossoming nature.
The city's locals still hold on to their tradition of grazing cattle, while Ordu is also heading towards modern designs in buildings and developing services, Governor of the city Irfan Balkanoglu told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
Turkey is working on making Ordu one of the biggest tourist attractions in the country, said the Governor, adding that the city has one of the longest beaches with the cleanest sand in the Black Sea.
The city, situated at 450 meters above sea level, enjoys features that attract visitors such as Persembe highlands, forests and plains, Balkanoglu noted.
Meanwhile, the Governor hoped that Kuwaiti and Saudi tourists would consider visiting Ordu, adding that over 260,000 Arab tourists visit the city each year.
Moreover, he noted that the city has the most modern touristic infrastructure and aerial lift and is working on building a skiing center in Cambasi highlands.
Ordu has the world's biggest hazelnut plantation and holds the annual Golden Hazelnut Festival on September. The city is also considered as one of the oldest populated areas in human history, as historical records show that the city was inhabited 3,000 years ago. (end) ta.ag
