Syrian opposition forces storm surrounded hospital in northwestern Syria

AMMAN, May 22 (KUNA) -- Syrian opposition forces have burst into the surrounded national hospital on outskirts of Jiser Al-Shughour town in northwestern Syria and captured the complex, according to a Syrian opposition monitor.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said in a statement, on Friday, a number of regime troops were killed or detained in the operation, indicating that the assaulting forces included members of Al-Nusra Front and the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
The hospital had been surrounded for weeks by the opposition forces, bottling up some 250 regime troops, including soldiers and senior officers. The nearby Jiser Al-Shughuor has recently fallen into the hands of the opposition following bitter fighting with the government forces.
Meanwhile, the monitor said the Lebanese Hezbollah organization, involved in fighting for control of Al-Qalamoun in Damascus' countryside since two weeks ago, has suffered up to 29 deaths. (pickup previous) tk.rk
