US-led coalition air strikes kill 170 ISIL militants in Syria - SOHR

AMMAN, May 19 (KUNA) -- At least 170 militants of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) were killed in the past 48 hours in the northern Syrian city of Hasaka, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).
In a press statement, the British-based SOHR stated that ISIL militants, Syrians and non-Syrians, were killed by air strikes carried out by the US-led international coalition aircraft and during the fighting with Kurdish fighters there.
It added that the intensive air raids have targeted ISIL-controlled buildings, vehicles and militants.
The almost non-stop bombardment helped Kurdish fighters advance and expel ISIL militants from nearly 20 villages in the city, SOHR pointed out.
In the meanwhile, a mortar shell fell near the Russian embassy in Damascus Tuesday but no causalities were reported.
The SOHR also reported regime helicopters throwing of barrels bombs including chlorine on Meshmeshan village in Idlib which left over 60 people, including many children, suffocating.
Al-Fateh Army has seized the village of Nihlaya located in south of Al-Mastomi camp after violent clashes with the regime forces and allied militiamen and hours after seizing the town of Al-Mastomi, its hill and military camp, which is the last military camp for the regime forces in the province of Idlib.
Al-Fateh army also wrestled control over Al-Moqbili area two days ago after clashes with the regime forces which withdrew towards the city of Ariha. (end) tk.ibi
