German FM visits Lebanon, Jordan

BERLIN, May 15 (KUNA) -- German Foreign Minister Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Friday is due to visit Lebanon and Jordan.
During his visit to the two countries, Steinmeier is expected to meet Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam and Jordanian King Abdullah II, according to a German foreign ministry statement.
The meetings will deal primarily with German aid to Syrian refugees in both countries. Steinmeier is to visit the Syrian refugees' camps in Jordan, added the statement.
Lebanon and Jordan have endured the burden of hosting around two and half million Syrian refugees.
Steinmeier is also expected to discuss with officials of the two countries the latest crisis facing the region, ways to defeat (ISIL), the Middle East peace process and the Iran nuclear talks. (end) ang.hs
