BAAQLIN, Lebanon, May 3 (KUNA) -- Lebanese Environment Minister Mohammed Al-Mashnooq on Sunday praised role of Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain Cultural Foundation in promoting the Arabic language.
In a statement to KUNA, Al-Mashnooq applauded the poetic and literary value represented by Al-Babtain, during a ceremony for honoring of the poet Abdulaziz Al-Babtain, the foundation's Chairman of the Board of Trustees, by a local forum, named "the Poetry Forum," in the town Baaqlin in the Chouf region of Mount Lebanon.
"We're here to honor a poet and an educated author who has devouted himself for service of the Arabic language, also to appreciate his efforts in all Arab countries to uphold the language," he added.
Al-Babtain opened the domain for competition "within the framework of poetic creativity," Minister Al-Mashnooq said, praising the Kuwaiti poet for establishing a special library for the Arab poetry.
Minister Al-Mashnooq said that the Foundation's purpose is to preserve the Arabic language.
For his part, Al-Babtain said that this honor is also an honor for the State of Kuwait that had won Arab and international recognition of its advanced position in culture and literature in addition to love and humanity, pursued by the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
The Foundation of Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain has honored Arab poets and issued hundreds of books and studies, Al-Babtain said. It has also contributed to spreading the Arabic language by organizing 480 courses and working with 75 Arab and foreign universities. (end) man.ayb.ss
