DOHA, April 29 (KUNA) -- The interior ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states have ratified the work mechanism of the committee in charge of preparing the GCC unified list of terrorist organizations, Secretary General of the pan-Gulf organization Abdullatif Al-Zayani announced.
At the wrapping-up of the 16th consultative meeting of the GCC ministers of interior, held here Wednesday, Al-Zayani said the ministers have thoroughly mulled the rapid security developments in the region and the growing challenge of the terrorist groups and their impact on security and stability of the Gulf region.
The ministers reiterated Gulf states' categorical rejection of extremism and terrorism in all their manifestations, he said, adding that they urged collective action to fight extremism and dry up its finance sources.
Al-Zayani pointed out that the ministers expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation among security agencies to maintain security in Arabian Gulf countries at that difficult time which led to the launching of the Saudi-led "Operation Decisive Storm" to restore legitimacy and defend people in Yemen upon request from the Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi.
The ministers underlined the importance of security agencies' vigilance to safeguard the internal front in the GCC states, he said.
Al-Zayani added that the ministers congratulated Saudi Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Prince Mohammad bin Naif bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud on his appointment as Crown Prince on Wednesday. (pick up previous) nnd.ibi
