Saudi Arabia arrests 93 ISIL suspects

RIYADH, April 28 (KUNA) -- Saudi Arabia arrested 93 people suspected of belonging to the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), the Interior Ministry said in a press statement on Tuesday.
Through several monitoring operations, the security apparatuses received information that led to an early detection of attempts to commit terrorist acts in several areas across the kingdom, the statement added, describing those arrested as a "deviant group".
Among these terrorist attempts were suicide blasts against the US embassy in Riyadh, security checkpoints, residential compounds and assassination acts of military personnel, it noted.
The statement said that there are ongoing activities against the deviant group, which seeks to undermine the security of the country.
Among the arrested are two Syrians and one Saudi accused of planning a suicide car blast against the US embassy in Riyadh.
The kingdom has taken a number of steps to prevent its citizens from joining the ISIL. (end) yms.hm
