Min. requests int'l humanitarian response efforts for Yemen

RIYADH, April 27 (KUNA) -- Yemen's Information Minister Nadia Saqqaf said that the regions of Aden, Taiz and Dhale' are of the most violence-ravaged areas, affected by an extreme lack of security.
As things stand, Houthi militias are surrounding a major hospital in Aden thus prompting Red Cross teams to abandon the building and evacuate patients, she said during an embassy briefing at Riyadh.
The internationally-backed fully-legitimate Yemeni government has sent a memo to the International Criminal Court (ICC) identifying people responsible for crimes against humanity.
The government is now focused on responding to the urgent humanitarian aspects affecting Yemenis displaced inside and outside of the country due to the violence there, she said.
These efforts will be conducted through a committee tasked with the matter which will orchestrate relief efforts, determine priorities and make sure this relief reaches the people in affected areas.
She urged immediate responsive relief efforts from the international community, and international and regional organisations for Yemen.
She went on to thank Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud for his supportive stance of the southern Arabian Peninsula nation. (end) od.sd
