Kuwait allocates USD three mln in urgent aid for Nepal's earthquake victims

KUWAIT, April 27 (KUNA) -- The cabinet, acting upon His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's instructions, allocated Monday USD three million in urgent aid for victims of an earthquake that hit Nepal and parts of India and Bangladesh.
Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah announced in a statement that the government decided to allocate the USD three million in emergency aid to help the people in Nepal which was struck by a 7.9-magnitude devastating earthquake, which has so far killed more than 3,500 people and injured hundreds others.
The powerful earthquake also hit parts of India and Bangladesh.
The cabinet earlier asked the Foreign Ministry, in coordination with the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS), to work with the international organizations to help alleviate the sufferings of the afflicted people in Nepal and the neighboring countries.
His Highness the Amir on Sunday sent a cable to Nepalese president Ram Baran Yadav, expressing his sorrow over the casualties that resulted from the devastating earthquake. He wished the country can overcome effects of this natural disaster. (pickup previous) jy.bs
