Kuwait hammers Oman in Hockey Challenge tourney

KUWAIT, April 22 (KUNA) -- Kuwait hockey team got closer to the title for the fourth consecutive time, after defeating Oman 5-0 on Wednesday, amid the final round of IIHF Ice Hockey Challenge Cup of Asia.
The tournament, being held here with participation of six national teams, is to conclude this Friday.
The Kuwaiti side performed well during the three sets of the match, thanks to players like Abdulaziz Al-Shutail who scored the opening goal, while his teammates Ahmad Al-Ajmi scored two, and Abdullah Al-Maraghi also scoring two.
However, the Oman lost all chances to advance since they also lost their first match.
Tonight second match witnessed Singapore beating Malaysia 4-1 after an outstanding performance by the winners, who finished with their second win place in the standings.
The tournament concludes with three games - Kuwait against Kyrgyzstan, Singapore against Oman, and India against Malaysia.
Tournament Coordinator Walid Al-Saqubi said that the tournament featured good technical levels, especially by Kuwait, Singapore and Kyrgyzstan teams, praising all for their hard work and efforts. (end) fsa.mb
