KUWAIT, April 21 (KUNA) -- Kuwait is keen on bolstering its relations with the United Kingdom in as many fields as possible, said Minister of Information and State Minister for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah on Tuesday.
The minister made that statement to the press on the sideline of a celebration held by the British embassy here marking the birthday of Queen Elizabeth II who turns 89 years of age today.
The Kuwaiti minister attended the celebration to offer the congratulations of Kuwait, its leadership and people, to the United Kingdom in recognition of the longstanding friendship between both countries.
Sheikh Salman, among other things, praised the educational and cultural role the British Council has been playing in Kuwait for over 60 years, in particular its valuable services to Kuwaiti students and expats.
Regarding a visit to the UK by undersecretary of the state ministry of youth affairs Sheikha Al-Zayn Al-Sabah, the minister said the visit was fruitful and made it possible for Kuwaiti officials to take a close look at how the British authorities deal with policies and activities geared for the youth and their development.
He said Kuwait's state ministry for youth affairs was eager to benefit from the British approaches to handling affairs of the youth. (end) hrz.ajs
