RIYADH, April 15 (KUNA) -- Coalition forces are now in full control of the airspace and ports of Yemen and routes of supplies to Houthi militias are cut off, Saudi-led Coalition Spokesman Brigadier General Ahmad Asiri affirmed Thursday.
In his daily briefing, Asiri said that the coalition airstrikes in the past 24 hours targeted Houthis locations in Al-Baida and Atiq areas.
The coalition strikes destroyed Houthi planes in Al-Dulaimi airbase and SAM missile launchers.
Asiri also revealed a coalition ground forces operation on the borders with Yemen, in Najran region, to pulverize Houthi artilleries that were firing towards the Saudi border posts, noting that shelling is continuing on the Houthis on the southern border.
The spokesman described Houthis militias status as bad, and continues to deteriorate as further divisions emerge in their camp, particularly after the announcement of a number of former pro-Houthi brigades of support to the Yemeni legitimacy.
In addition, the division comes as result of the clear message sent yesterday by the international community through the UN Security Council resolution which stands beside the Yemeni people.
Asiri added that all indications show that the Houthis and their allies have lost focus and control and their movement has become random, in other words, not governed by any military logic through moving across the rugged mountain roads to avoid the strikes coalition aircraft.
In spite of all that the people's committees and resistance forces have carried out a several successful operations against them, he said.
Coalition operations focus on Sa'adah region where the Houthi leaders gather in desperate attempt to regroup in northern Yemen and then redeploy some troops and move towards the south, but it faces intense bombing from coalition air power, Asiri added.
As for the situation in Aden, Asiri said coalition forces carried out airdrop of arms, equipment, and medical supplies to the people's committees to strengthen them and enable them to take more grounds from the Houthis militias.
The spokesman pointed out that coalition forces do not target particular individuals whether the former president Ali Abdullah Saleh, or the leader of the Houthis, but they rather target all who causes harm to the Yemeni people and its security and stability. (end) od.mb
