WASHINGTON, April 14 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's National Assembly Speaker Marzouk Al-Ghanim and his accompanying delegation met with World Bank's Chief Economist Shantayanan Devarajan on Tuesday and discussed promoting bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, held on sideline of the Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation's participation in the Global Parliamentary Conference, hosted by the Global Parliamentary Network of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the two sides considered reports of international organizations on Kuwait's efforts aiming to achieve economic and financial reforms.
The meeting touched on the ways to achieve these reforms and underlined the need to depend on official data to ensure accurate evaluation.
Al-Ghanim called on the IMF to formulate a clear plan aiming to promote bilateral cooperation and improve economic situations in general.
For his part, Devarajan lauded steps made by Kuwait towards achieving economic and financial reforms, hoping for further measures.
Al-Ghanim and his accompanying delegation, including MPs Yusuf Al-Zalzalah and Khalil Abdullah, continue to hold meetings with senior officials of World Bank and IMF to promote cooperation in different fields.
The Speaker held meetings on Monday with World Bank President Jim Yong Kim and senior officials of IMF in which a deal was reached to help National Assembly take advantage of expertise of the two international institutions. (end) yt.hm
