KUWAIT, April 8 (KUNA) -- GCC media outlets must be responsible while addressing regional challenges, said Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah Wednesday.
In his opening speech at the 45th meeting for the GCC Joint Program Production Institution (GCCJPPI), Sheikh Salman said that the institution played an integral role in coordinating GCC efforts amid the challenges facing the region.
Sheikh Salman, also the GCCJPPI Chairman of the Board, affirmed that GCC media must reflect the aspirations of the Gulf citizens, stressing that media in the region must focus messages on unity and cooperation rather than the opposite.
Relating facts and being transparent is crucial for the current happenings in the region, said Sheikh Salman, noting that Gulf youth should partake in spreading such notions whether it was within regular channels or through modern media applications and social networks.
On his part, GCCJPPI Ali Al-Raies lauded Sheikh Salman for his continuous support to the institution, affirming that the GCCJPPI was focusing of achieving the media goals set by the Gulf leaderships.
Proposals that came out from previous meetings for GCC television and radio executives were discussed during the GCCJPPI meeting. The institutions will conclude its meeting tomorrow. (end) mdm.gta
