KUWAIT, April 8 (KUNA) -- A celebration will be held for designating the late Sheikh Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as a global personality in the realms of culture and education on Sunday.
- The announcement was made on Wednesday by the head of the historical manuscripts at the Amiri Diwan, Sheikha Mona Al-Jaber Al-Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, in a statement, also noting that Minister of Information, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Chairman of the National Council or Culture, Arts and Letter, Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, would sponsor the activity.
Sheikha Mona stated that the ceremony, to be held in coordination with Kuwait National Library, will honor the late Sheikh Abdullah Al-Jaber for being proclaimed a global personality in the realms of culture and education by the UNESCO for 2014-2015 -- at a ceremony sponsored by His Highness the Amir last November.
The festival will be held for five days, during which attendees would watch videotaped documentary of the late Sheikh Abdullah al-Jaber, pioneer of culture and education, produced by the center in Arabic, English and French.
There will be an exhibition chronicling life of the late eminent leader.
Sheikha Mona added that the festival would also mark the 50th anniversary of Sheikh Abdullah's assuming the top post of the ministry of education.
The late Sheikh Abdullah had served as minister of education for three consecutive decades starting in 1936 and ending in 1965. (end) mah.rk
