OAPEC launches scientific research award 2016

KUWAIT, March 30 (KUNA) -- The Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) announced Monday the launching of the "OAPEC Award for Scientific Research for the Year 2016".
It noted that this year's topic is on re-refining of used lubricating oils and its economic and environmental implications.
The prize is part of the organization's policy of encouraging scientific research by awarding two prizes on a biennial basis, OAPEC's General Secretariat said in a statement, pointing out the first prize is KD 7,000, while the second prize is KD 5,000.
Researchers will be notified by OAPEC Secretariat of the Award Committee's decision, the organization said, adding that names of winners will be officially announced at the end of the OAPEC's Ministerial Council in 2016.
OAPEC's keen interest on re-refining of used lubricating oils comes in line with their efforts to improve the performance of oil industry, seize the added value opportunities, and maximize the utilization of their natural resources, in addition to enhance their compliance with the requirements of the legislation related to environment protection, it said.
The deadline for submitting the research is May 31, 2016, OAPEC noted, adding that prizes are awarded to individuals of all nationalities advised of the Award Committee's decision.
