Kuwait partakes in Yemeni Operation as per GCC joint defense treaty -- Al-Ghanim

KUWAIT, March 26 (KUNA) -- National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim indicated in a press statement on Thursday that the Kuwaiti leadership informed him yesterday about the participation of the Kuwaiti air force in the military operations in Yemen at the request of Saudi Arabia.
He said the nature of the Kuwaiti participation was in accordance with the GCC joint defense treaty and did not conflict with the Kuwaiti constitution.
He recalled the historical role Saudi Arabia assumed during the liberation of Kuwait and called on factions in Yemen to implement all relative UN resolutions and those of the Gulf Initiative and to abide by results of a comprehensive national dialogue and to respond to Riyadh's call to host a special conference on Yemen.
He also called on Kuwaitis at home to remain true to their national unity and to stand together behind the nation's wise leadership. (end) rkh.ajs
