AMMAN, March 20 (KUNA) -- Around 70 Syrian regime's military forces have been killed in attacks by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in eastern Hama and Homs, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) stated Friday.
ISIL has been launching attacks against Syrian regime's forces since last Thursday, targeting checkpoints and positions in Al-Sekhni area east of Homs, SOHR said, adding that confirmed information reports casualties on ISIL side in same attacks.
Weeks ago, SOHR reported ISIL's intention to launch intensive attacks against the regime's military sites in eastern Homs and Hama to boost its supporters' morale following series of losses during clashes with the People's Protection Units (YPG) in Aleppo, Raqqa, and Hasakah provinces. (end)
