WASHINGTON, Feb 26 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Embassy to Venezuela held a reception on Thursday marking the February 25-26 National Day and Liberation Day, which had a large turnout.
In a speech to attendees Ambassador Mohammad Al-Shabo referred to the strength of the 50-year bilateral relations between the two oil-producing nations, according to an embassy statement.
The ambassador also pointed out to Kuwait's "constructive and peace-encouraging role" amid the tragic circumstances sweeping the Middle East region.
Kuwait continues to make a huge contribution to the Syrian crisis, particularly on the humanitarian scale, whereby it has already hosted two international donor conferences for refugees and is set to host a third in March, he mentioned.
"This has been highly regarded by the United Nations," he said, "and this is portrayed in the awarding of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah the title of 'Humanitarian Leader'." Attending the proceedings were senior local state officials, lawmakers, military officers, foreign diplomats, representatives of the Muslim and Christian communities, academics and businessmen, the statement read.
