Jordan denies attack on embassy in Libya

AMMAN, Feb 1 (KUNA) -- Jordan denied reports that its embassy in Libya had been burglarized and targeted with an armed attack.
A Foreign Ministry spokesman said in a statement, released late on Saturday, the ministry staff, after conducting necessary contacts and investigations, determined that all members of the diplomatic mission were safe, with no damage at the embassy building.
The ministry was reacting to reports claiming that the embassy was attacked and two security guards were nabbed and taken to an unknown destination.
In the middle of last April, gunmen held the Jordanian ambassador, Fawaz Al-Atian, for a month before trading him for a Libyan militant, who was detained by the Jordanian authorities. (end) ssj
