Lebanon complains to UNSC about Israel's bombardment

BEIRUT, Jan 30 (KUNA) -- Lebanon has lodged an official complaint with the UN Security Council (UNSC) against Israel for the latter's bombardment of south Lebanon two days ago, the foreign ministry said Friday.
The Israeli bombardment "is a blatant violation of its (Lebanon) sovereignty, the UN Charter, rules of the international law and Security Council resolutions, particularly resolution 1701," the foreign ministry said in a statement.
Lebanon asked the UNSC to investigate the Israeli attack against the UN peacekeeping mission in South Lebanon, which killed a Spanish peacekeeper, it added. The ministry asked the UNSC to hold Israel responsible for this attack.
The Israeli forces bombed a number of areas in south Lebanon two days ago killing the Spanish soldier. The bombardment followed an attack by Hezbollah against an Israeli force in the occupied Shebaa Farms. (end) wsm.bs
