Ban denounces Tripoli hotel attacks

NEW YORK, Jan 28 (KUNA) -- UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Wednesday condemned in the strongest terms the deadly militant attacks on the luxury Corinthia Hotel in Tripoli, capital of Libya, yesterday.
He expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives as a result of this despicable act, his press office said in a statement.
Terrorism has no place in the new Libya and will not undermine the ongoing political dialogue which the United Nations is facilitating, Ban said.
In this regard, Ban commended the courage of the Libyan actors who are participating in the Geneva dialogue to find a peaceful negotiated solution to the crisis. The US citizen David Berry, 34, was among five foreigners who were killed in the terrorist attacks. (end) mao.gb
