AKKAR, Lebanon, Jan 24 (KUNA) -- In collaboration with Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) and Lebanese Red Cross a delegation of Kuwaiti volunteers distributed aid to 350 Syrian refugee families in Akkar city, north Lebanon, on Saturday.
The aid consisted of food packages, blankets, diesel for heating in addition to gifts for kids, enough to meet the needs of a family of five members for two weeks, said the head of the delegation Feryal Al-Furaih to KUNA.
This generous initiative comes under the guidance of the political leadership, led by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and aims to mobilize philanthropic action to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian refugees, she added.
For her part said the delegation member Fouziah Al-Salman, that the Kuwaiti aid to the displaced at this time would go far to help them get through the winter season.
Futouh Al-Dalali, a delegation member, stressed the keenness to stand by the Syrian people who live in human tragedy, noting that the team is trying to provide the displaced Syrians with their basic needs.
The Kuwaiti delegation arrived yesterday on board of Kuwaiti military plane carrying about 30 tons of humanitarian aid of dates, clothes, blankets and cleaning materials, directed in particular to the displaced Syrians in the northern parts of Lebanon.
A number of Syrian refugees expressed deep appreciation of the Kuwaiti help to thousands of displaced families in these difficult circumstances.
Kuwait has been among the leading countries to offer aid and humanitarian supplies to over one million Syrian refugees in Lebanon. (end) man.ss
