KUWAIT, Jan 23 (KUNA) -- As the world continues to mourn the great Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, the late leader left a tremendous legacy that was based on wisdom and keen interest in serving Arabs and Muslims worldwide.
King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman bin Faisal bin Turki Al-Saud was born in Riyadh City in 1924. The late King began his career as head of the Saudi national guard in 1963, taking charge of what was known as the great development in the Kingdom's military apparatus.
In 1975 King Abdullah also became second Deputy Prime Minister while in 1982, the late leader was also appointed as Crown Prince.
During his reign as leader of the nation in 2005, King Abdullah took on the responsibility to carry out the legacy left by his predecessors, leading the Kingdom into new grounds within all domains.
Chiefly amongst his achievements was the Arab peace initiative, which he presented to the Arab summit in Beirut in 2002 before becoming King. The initiative aimed at finding a just solution to the Palestinian cause with an independent state for the long estranged Palestinian people.
King Abdullah also focused on reconciliation amongst Palestinians, launching several initiatives in such regards.
The late King also had strong views regarding the situation in Syria, calling more than once to the end of bloodshed there. As for Egypt, King Abdullah took some strong political and economic steps to end the situation of discomfort and instability.
On global terrorism, the Saud King always stood against heinous acts conducted in the name of Islam and advocated for peace and understanding throughout the world. (end) eh.gta
