Kuwaiti Info. Min hopes for sturdier Arab cultural bond

RIYADH, Jan 13 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Information Minister, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Chairman of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah on Tuesday hoped for a sturdier Arab cultural bond.
His remark came on the sideline of the Arab cultural ministers and chiefs 19th session, currently being held here.
The session is held under the title "Arabic language, a platform for cultural-humanitarian integration." Protecting the sanctity of the Arabic language and safeguard the cultural identity of the region are among the key issues discussed during this session, in addition to the role of culture in the bringing up of youth and shield them from ideologies of extremism, Sheikh Salman noted.
As for Kuwait's cultural contribution to the session, he pointed out that it was a "message" of appreciation to Arab delegations for their support regarding the UN designation of Kuwait as a "Humanitarian center" and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as a "Humanitarian Leader".
Regarding Kuwait's proposals in the session, Sheikh Salman said it included a project on establishing an Arab institution for cultural communication.
With the participation of more than 30 Arab countries and Arab cultural organizations, this session is focusing on four focal points: the concept and usage of the Arabic language; the contributions of the Arabic language in culture; the Arabic language as identifier of nations and the usage of the Arabic language in the wildly spread digital world.
